Local Neighborhood food project plans national expansion. For nearly 10 years, a growing number of volunteers have found that there is power in the simplest of items. A green bag. The Neighborhood Food Project was designed to make it easy for people to help out those most in need while building community. It is easy to see why this idea is growing from one small town in Southern Oregon to a nationwide movement.

One woman turns her grief into purpose by creating art to save the sea. A simple walk on the beach after a devastating loss brought Angela Haseltine Pozzi face to face with her life’s purpose: making art that educates using trash from the ocean. Washed Ashore builds and exhibits powerful art to educate a global audience about plastic pollution in the ocean. Volunteers and visitors alike are inspired to change consumer habits through simple daily choices.

For years the prevailing attitude was that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities were incapable of participating in or contributing to society. The people at Southern Oregon Aspire are removing barriers and stigmas so that the people they serve can live full and productive lives with choice.

Dogs are making lives better. A non-profit started with the mission of training dogs to serve individuals who are deaf has expanded their mission to help children with autism and professionals such as teachers, therapists, and physicians. It’s all in a days work for these professional canines and the people they are serving are living better lives for it.
