Class of 2013-14: Verbal Absurdities

STUDENT SHOWCASE: Verbal Absurdities
A Cappella Group
Medford

“Verbal Absurdities” is an elite, audition-only a cappella group made up of Medford area high school students directed by Josh Killingsworth, local voice teacher. The group strives to perform a varied repertoire, this year singing everything from Mozart to Joni Mitchell to Maroon 5. The Verbal Absurdities’ mission is to exceed peoples’ expectations for what a high school vocal group can sound like.

The group rehearses 3 to 6 hours per week, and strives to keep a professional atmosphere at all times. This dedication has paid off; in just a year and a half of existence, The Verbal Absurdities have performed for almost 15,000 people, sung at the Britt Festival, and opened for a cappella supergroup, The Bobs, in Portland. The group’s future plans include singing at vocal competitions, doing outreach programs at local schools, and delighting crowds throughout the state.
