Political Cartoonist
Roseburg High School
I was born in Loma Linda, California and moved to Roseburg, Oregon when I was four, and have lived here since then. I began drawing when my parents have me a toy eagle, which I would draw for hours on end. Since then I grew to love and appreciate art so much more. Eventually I became more geared towards stylized cartooning when I discovered “Calvin and Hobbes” and the BONE series. About the age of eleven I started to have an interest in politics and philosophy, and began to meld the two fields of art and political thought. Over time I have become much more politically aware through discussions with other people, absorbing and analyzing the news, and reading related books on politics, history and philosophy. I acquired new influences as well, such as Gary Trudeau (Doonesbury), Pat Oliphant, and the street artist Banksy. My style can beat be described as stylized or realistic cartoon, and my message is best described as progressive, liberal, anti-establishment, pro-democracy, and anti-authoritarian. All this can be seen through my artwork, which is meant to amuse, make one think and reflect, and to express my heavy progressive/liberal outlook.
