Membership Assistant

Summary

This position requires dependability, organization, attention to detail, and a courteous demeanor with vendors-members-donors-visitors-staff, at our often fast-paced Southern Oregon PBS station. Full-time, hourly, $18/hour with benefits after sixty (60) days.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Answer telephones and direct calls.
  • Retrieve email and voicemail messages daily and respond promptly (within one business day) Manage Shipping/Receiving {postage, mail, packages, premiums, distribute staff mail).
  • Maintain office supplies for departments and reorder supplies as needed.
  • Schedule vendors as needed (shredding, janitorial, etc.) Organize and maintain files and filing system.
  • Assist Member Services with a variety of clerical duties as assigned.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to station departments, including data entry, mailing, scanning, faxing, copying, and filing as requested.
  • Train on Membership Service Bureau (MSB) tutorials to access Member information and answer typical questions.
  • Keep current notations in Member files regarding changes, updates, problem resolutions, etc.
  • Occasional evenings/weekends may be required for special events.
     

Education, Skills & Abilities 

  • Minimum high school diploma 
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Knowledge of Public Broadcasting helpful
  • Knowledge of membership-based organizations preferred

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations 

  • Valid Oregon Driver’s license required.

 

Work Environment and Physical Demands 

  • Frequent, prolonged sitting (6-8 hours per day).
  • Daily keyboarding for prolonged periods of time, including use of electronic peripheral equipment.
  • Able to process complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Able to utilize phone and email systems, photocopiers, scanners, and other small office equipment.
  • Able to place and retrieve information in and from file folders and file cabinets.
  • Occasional bending, squatting, lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to talk for up to eight hours a day.

 

Work Environment 

  • Work is mostly performed in an office with shared common spaces.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually light to moderate and occasionally may be loud.
  • Approximately 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend hours required.
  • Occasional driving on public roadways in varying weather and traffic conditions.
  • Occasional local and statewide travel is required.
